MORE KAIKOURA PHOTOS

One of the other reasons our stay in Kaikoura was so special, was because of our accommodations. We stayed above the town at a bed & breakfast called Austin Heights. It's small, but the people who own it our sweet and you can tell they really love what they do.

They served us a delicious continental breakfast every morning (included) and give free transport to and from the train station or bus stop. We were lucky, and got a few extra rides no charge. They rent out bikes, have laundry on site, and a friendly cat named Oscar. John, one of the owners was so warm and funny. He would sit and eat breakfast with us and give us recommendations for where to eat in the town and ask us what we did the day before. All of his recommendations were spot on! We almost felt like we were saying goodbye to friends or relatives when we left. It felt like home.

Here are some more photos of the lovely seals from our Kayak trip. We got really close to some. It was quite amazing and fun to see them frolicking in their natural habitat. Like dolphins they are very playful and friendly so long as you don't bother them too much.

A nice photo of us taken by our Kayak guide, with a seal swimming in front of us.
More photos of the beautiful landscape. Couldn't get enough of it! This was at one point off the South Bay Reserve. We didn't get to go the whole track as it took us about an hour to get here from our hotel and we had other activities planned.

My husband does his Rocky impersonation after a long hike up with our bikes.

And a cute cow who was kind enough to look at me for the photo....I did wait though.
We miss you Kaikoura!
